Online Sales Storyboard
A storyboard consists of multiple dashboards, that help tell a story and drill down deeper into your data. They can help tell a timeline, or focus your research between a set of different parameters. In this project I created a storyboard in Tableau using sales data from an online marketplace. The data was retrieved from Kaggle.
Step 1: Creation
This wasn't really a multi-step process. I did import and analyze the data with python to make sure I knew what I was looking at and check for errors, but it wasn't as intensive as the previous project. This project was 100% focused on Tableau design.

Here is the first dashboard, or the first page in the story. I'd imagine that a marketing analyst using this tool would use this to get a high level overview of the sales data. Using this page to not only find answers, but to find questions. Here you can get a quick snapshot of the sales per country, highest selling products and the sales over time.

If you hover over a country, a tooltip will appear. This window will show you the total sales, highest selling month of the year, the top customer and highest selling product for each country.

You can also click any country you'd like to filter the rest of the data. In this example I chose US sales.

Now let's say after looking at the first dashboard you have an interest in a particular product. You can see that popcorn holders are the highest seller and you want to gather insights on it. From there, you'd move over to the product dashboard, type in "Popcorn Holder" into the dropdown on the top of the page and now you have a snapshot of the product sales. You can see the sales over time, which will show the largest order # and top purchasing customer for each month you hover over. You'll also find the top selling countries, sales vs. returns and how the price affects the quantity per order.

Moving on to the third and final dashboard, you'll find that it displays similar information, but this time for insights into a particular customer. Let's say you have a customer that you want to use to develop a profile. Or even better, you want to select multiple high-purchasing customers at once, to see if general trends can be gathered from them. You just choose the customer number(s) that you want and you'll be met with insights on their purchasing habits, returns, top products and how price affects their order quantity.

To summarize, this project was made with a marketing analyst in mind. I wanted them to be able to use the first page to gather general insights and develop deeper questions. From there I wanted them to be able to drill down deeper into the product and customer insights that may be important to their decision making or reporting responsibilities. This storyboard is meant to develop deep questions and take you further and further into the data until you have those answers.
